BETTER HEALTH SERVICE ON THE WAY. With the 30M subsidy granted by the Provincial Government, Eastern Bicol; Medical Center is on the its way on giving better health service to the people.
There is now a reason to raise expectation on EBMC health services.
The Provincial Government of Catanduanes granted 30 Million annual subsidy to Eastern Bicol Medical Center (EBMC) to improve health services of the lone government hospital in the province.
In an interview, Governor Joseph Cua said that the subsidy is a good news for the province. He said that as the fund grows the more that it is beneficial to the province.
“We have to expect better services because of the subsidy”, Gov.Cua added.
Back in February 2010, when EBMC received the Economic Enterprise status, the provincial government has been granting subsidies to the provincial hospital. The governor cited however that when Department of Budget and Management (DBM), and Commission on Audit conducted audit reports, the economic enterprise suffered until so that the subsidy was stopped.
The chief executive added that in April 2017, he and his staff went on ‘Lakbay Aral’, a benchmarking activity of the provincial government, to Benguet General Hospital which is also an economic enterprise.
“We talked with COA in Benguet and naisihan mi allowed naman palan su pagtao nin subsidy. So pagbalik mi after nin ‘Lakbay Aral’, together with local finance, and the administrative staff of EBMC, we talked with DBM and COA and inallow naman kita ninda”, Gov.Cua explained.
Gov.Cua added that this year, since the subsidy was approved near the 3rd quarter of the year, the government allocated 15 Million. By next year another 15 Million will be given to EBMC.
The subsidy will be used to improve the provincial hospital’s facilities and operations, and to increase salaries of doctors and other staffs.
“The EBMC is being true to its objective as a non-profit hospital”, the governor said.
