Despite falling short against Naga City, Catanduanes secondary basketball boys did not let the bronze medal slip past their hands as they defeated Legazpi City 78-66, February 9, 2018, ending a five-year basketball medal drought.

Three players scored in double-digit lead by Kier Alvin Manlangit with 16 points. Manlangit averages 20 points in five games. Reserved center and birthday boy Benedict Parejo chipped in 11 points combined with Bagamanoc native John Kevin Lanon.

Catanduanes’ lead grew as big as 21 points in the third quarter with their intense full court press that matched with their inside offensive bombardment.

Legazpi used the same defense against Catanduanes and managed to trimmed down the lead to five 66-61 in the fourth.

Catanduanes swayed the momentum back in their favor scoring a 12-5 rampage, to end the game 78-66.

“Siyempre maogma.

As of press time, Kier Alvin Manlangit is eyed to be enlisted in the Palarong Pambansa roster of Bicol.
