Groovin’ and swayin’ to the beat, the dance sports team of Catanduanes landed 4th in Latin Elementary, 5th in both Standard Elementary and Secondary, and 7th in Latin Secondary during the competition held at University of Nueva Caceres gymnasium, Naga City.

Leading the four pairs are the Capango siblings – Mel Irish and Sean Denver, who wowed the crowed and captured the 4th place in Latin elementary. Mel and Denver, both from Sto. Cristo Elementary school outshined the other pairs in their category.

According to Maricon P. Romero, coach of the Capango siblings, she was surprised by the excellent performance of the two.

“Mas lalong nag standout yung performance nila dun sa actual na laban. Very entertaining yung sayaw nila at kitang kita naman sa reception ng crowd,” Romero said.

Standard category pairs, Josh River Mago and Almerose Love Faustino for elementary, and Charlon Cervantes and Alliyah Auvrey Simbillo for secondary who both landed in 5th spot showed the crowed their passion and intensity on the dance floor.

Coach Lito Zafe of standard secondary said that we are not left behind in the dance sports competition.

“Dai man kita pwedeng sabihan na basta basta lang kasi out of 10 divisions who have their entries, nakapang-lima kita. Achievement na din, but motivation pa lalo ta move forward and do much better for next year,” Zafe said.

Meanwhile, Jann Paul Cabrera and Khytte Marie Valeza of Latin secondary landed 7th place, but did not advanced to the finals round.

Mago is from Virac Pilot Elementary School while Faustino is from Sto. Cristo Elementary School. The tandem Cervantes-Simbillo and Cabrera-Valeza are from Catanduanes National High School.
