Catanduanes Government

The Provincial Local Government of Catanduanes is aiming to further develop young entrepreneurs’ capabilities through business pitching training and programs.

Governor Joseph C. Cua, through Executive Asst. III and Provincial Information Officer-Designate Nikko Franco B. Templonuevo, conveyed said plan in his message during the Youth Entrepreneurship Program (YEP) Consultation Meeting conducted at the Lucky Hotel, March 7, 2022.

The said Business Pitching Program, suggested by Provincial Youth Development Office aims to encourage aspiring and established existing business entrepreneurs aged 18-30 years old.

The business pitching program consists of a boot camp activity that includes proposal writing and presentation training, as well as an emphasis on inter-agency collaboration with financing institutions and other government agencies that can provide additional resources to ensure their success.

“We’re providing marketing assistance because we’re seeing a new breed of young business entrepreneurs, some of whom are launching new ventures and others who are continuing family businesses,” Templonuevo reiterates Gov. Cua’s vision.

“Suportado ni Gov. Cua ang mga program para sa mga kabataan lalo na towards business at committed kami sa vision na ini,” he added.

On July 16, 2021, DTI-Catanduanes officially launched YEP, in which they collaborated with local youth sectors – development agency partners, banks and financing institutions, academe, non-government organizations (NGOs), and national government agencies (NGAs) – to develop programs and services centered on the province’s future entrepreneurs.

YEP, with its official tagline “Harnessing Our Own Resources for the Youth’s Advancement!” supports the government’s growth agenda of doubling the number of entrepreneurs in the country by 2022, which will broaden the benefits of economic development, address inequality, and improve the quality of life of Filipinos, particularly the youth.

With the ultimate goal of advancing national development, YEP components promote optimistic actions aimed at enhancing individuals’ and communities’ economic independence.
