Bicol Film Festival

The Provincial Local Government Unit (PLGU) of Catanduanes encourages the public, especially the youth and film enthusiasts in the island, to participate in and submit entries for this year’s Bicol Film Competition and Festival.

One of the highlights of the festival is the short film competition which could be participated in by interested individuals, companies, or organizations. The entries should not exceed 20 minutes and should have dialogues primarily in Bicol.

The organizing committee sent out invitations to various schools in Bicol and will accept entries from the public to attract both established and new talents in the region to pave their way to the mainstream film industry and international market.

Leading up to the short film competition are acting, scriptwriting, film directing, cinematography and photography workshops with individuals renowned in the national and local film industry to equip the aspiring filmmakers with necessary filmmaking knowledge and tools.

Aside from the short film contest, the festival will also have song writing contest, photo contest, choir and rondalla recital, writer’s day and Gubing Fashion Show to further discover talents and promote the Bicolano culture.

The best short film will receive a prize of P100,000 and a trophy during the Awards Night on August 2019 at the A. Bichara Silverscreens Entertainment Center, Legazpi City, Albay.

Submission of entries is only until July 28, 2019.

The Bicol Film Festival is a collaborative effort among private individuals, filmmakers, and film enthusiasts in the Bicol region that aims to develop and showcase Bicolano talents, and promote Bicol cinema by developing an audience and a sustainable film industry in the region.
