Displaced PWD worker Efren Soriano gladly receives the cash assistance from Cong. Hector Sanchez’ Congressional District Office.
Congressman Hector Sanchez in the past week distributed P5.2 million-worth of MLhuillier reference numbers to displaced Catandunganons as part of the Department of Labor and Employment’s (DOLE) many assistance programs.
Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) has so far benefited 1,132 Catandunganons from Baras (158), Virac (218), Bato (63), Caramoran (205), Pandan (369), Viga (92), Payo (27)
“Ipambakal kong semento ta gapagibo akong halong. Dakulang tuwang ito ta masakit ang trabaho ngunyan… Maraming salamat tabi,” said Efren Soriano, a 62-year-old PWD worker from Buenavista, Virac.
The Congressional District Office noted that more aid is on the way until all beneficiaries have received their cash assistance.
According to the DOLE website, TUPAD is “a community-based package of assistance that provides emergency employment for displaced workers, underemployed and seasonal workers.”
